The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has been suspended indefinitely due to escalating military tensions between India and Pakistan. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made the announcement following heightened security concerns, particularly after the Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals match in Dharamsala was abandoned midway due to air raid alerts in nearby regions.

The situation worsened after missile strikes and military activity intensified across the border, prompting the BCCI to prioritize the safety of players, team personnel, and fans. A senior BCCI official stated, “It does not look nice that cricket goes on while the country is at war.”

At the time of suspension, 12 league matches and four knockout games, including the final in Kolkata, were yet to be played. The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has also been moved to the United Arab Emirates, reflecting the broader impact of geopolitical tensions on cricket.

The BCCI has not yet provided clarity on whether the remaining IPL matches will be rescheduled or canceled entirely. The board is expected to consult the central government before making further announcements.
