The Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Mumbai Indians (MI) are set to clash in Qualifier 2 of IPL 2025 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, on Sunday, June 1. The winner will secure a spot in the final against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
PBKS, led by Shreyas Iyer, topped the league stage but suffered a crushing eight-wicket defeat against RCB in Qualifier 1, managing only 101 runs. Meanwhile, MI, captained by Hardik Pandya, finished fourth in the league but displayed dominant form, defeating Gujarat Titans in the Eliminator with a commanding 228/5.
PBKS had previously defeated MI on May 26, securing a top-two finish, but with MI gaining momentum, the rematch promises to be intense. The pitch at Narendra Modi Stadium has been a batting paradise, with multiple 200-plus scores recorded this season. Given recent trends, the team winning the toss is likely to opt to bowl first.
PBKS will rely on their explosive openers Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya, while MI will look to Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Jasprit Bumrah to maintain their dominance. The absence of Marco Jansen and Yuzvendra Chahal has weakened PBKS’s bowling attack, putting extra pressure on Arshdeep Singh.
With MI aiming for their sixth IPL title and PBKS seeking their first-ever championship, the stakes are high for this do-or-die battle.
