Intel’s leading strategy officer, Safroadu Yeboah-Amankwah, is leaving the company, marking the most recent shift since Lip-Bu Tan assumed leadership of the chip manufacturer in March, according to two individuals knowledgeable about the situation who spoke to Reuters.

Yeboah-Amankwah, who has held the position of chief strategy officer at Intel since 2020, will be departing on June 30, according to two individuals who requested to remain anonymous. Yeboah-Amankwah has been responsible for overseeing growth initiatives, strategic partnerships, and equity investments for Intel, in addition to other duties.Certain strategic responsibilities previously held by Yeboah-Amankwah will now be assigned to Sachin Katti, who has recently been promoted by Intel to the position of chief technology and AI officer. Additionally, Intel Capital, the venture arm of the company, will now report to Tan, according to one of two individuals and a third source familiar with the situation.

He has also sought to reduce what he perceived as Intel’s excessive and sluggish middle-management structure. Tan’s actions come after several years of manufacturing difficulties at Intel and missed opportunities in the mobile phone and AI chip markets. His predecessor, Pat Gelsinger, endeavored to implement an ambitious turnaround, although he inadvertently exacerbated some of Intel’s issues, as previously reported by Reuters.

In 2024, Intel announced an annual net loss attributable to the company of $18.8 billion, marking its first loss since 1986.
