In a significant political development ahead of the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, the opposition alliance Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA bloc) has officially named Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav as its Chief Ministerial face. The announcement was made during a joint press conference held in Patna, attended by senior leaders from all coalition partners.

Congress leader Ashok Gehlot, who addressed the media, confirmed that the decision was unanimously supported by the Congress high command, including Rahul Gandhi and party president Mallikarjun Kharge. Gehlot emphasized that the alliance aims to present a united front against the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and bring about progressive change in Bihar.

Alongside Tejashwi Yadav, the bloc also named Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahani as one of the Deputy Chief Ministerial candidates. Gehlot added that another leader from the backward classes would be appointed as co-Deputy CM if the alliance secures a majority.

The INDIA bloc’s move is seen as a strategic attempt to consolidate support among youth, backward classes, and minority communities. Tejashwi Yadav, known for his strong grassroots connect and vocal opposition to the NDA’s policies, is expected to lead the campaign with a focus on employment, education, and social justice.

Political analysts suggest that this announcement could reshape the electoral dynamics in Bihar, especially as the state gears up for a high-stakes contest. The NDA, led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is yet to formally announce its candidate for the top post.

The INDIA bloc’s leadership reiterated its commitment to inclusive governance and urged voters to support their vision for a “new Bihar.”
