India A is set to face England Lions in their first four-day unofficial Test at St Lawrence Ground, Canterbury, beginning May 30. This match serves as a crucial opportunity for players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Abhimanyu Easwaran to acclimatize to English conditions ahead of India’s five-match Test series against England.

The India A squad, led by Abhimanyu Easwaran, features a mix of young talent and experienced players, including Yashasvi Jaiswal, Karun Nair, Dhruv Jurel (VC), Shardul Thakur, and Ishan Kishan. The England Lions, captained by James Rew, include Chris Woakes, Rehan Ahmed, Jordan Cox, and Emilio Gay.

This two-match series provides an opportunity for India A players to adapt to English conditions, refine their techniques, and stake a claim for selection in the senior Test squad. Several players, including Jaiswal, Easwaran, and Reddy, are expected to join the senior squad for the England Test series beginning June 20.

The first unofficial Test runs from May 30 to June 2, followed by a second match starting June 6. The match will be live-streamed on the ECB website and app, but will not be telecast on Indian television.

This series is expected to play a pivotal role in India’s preparations for the upcoming Test series against England, allowing players to gain valuable experience in overseas conditions.
