The GST reforms, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi described as the “next generation” of changes needed to boost the economy and make it easier for citizens to comply with the law, are a “double dhamaka” of happiness before this Diwali and Chhath Puja, he said, marking a significant step towards making India self-reliant. The streamlined GST regime will go into effect on September 22, the first day of Navratri, according to PM Modi’s announcement of the implementation date.

The Prime Minister reiterated his Independence Day speech, saying, “We cannot give our country its rightful place in today’s global situation without timely changes.” This time, on August 15, I had stated from the Red Fort that implementing next-generation reforms is essential to achieving India’s independence. Prior to this Diwali and Chhath Puja, I had also assured the people of my country that there would be a double dhamaka of happiness. “GST has now gotten even easier… Since all of these things are unquestionably connected to the “Matrishakti,” the next generation reform will be put into effect on September 22, the first day of Navratri,” he continued.

The Prime Minister of India has praised the next-generation GST reforms as a double dose of support and growth for the country. The reforms announced include significant relief to citizens in healthcare and insurance sectors, including the complete removal of GST on individual health and life insurance, moving them to the zero-tax bracket, and reducing GST rates on critical medical items from 12% to 5%. These reforms are expected to make health and life insurance more affordable and accessible.
