Australian allrounder Glenn Maxwell is set to make his return to international cricket during the upcoming five-match T20I series against India, following a successful recovery from a fractured wrist sustained in September. The announcement comes as Australia revises its squad ahead of the high-stakes series, which begins on October 29 in Canberra.

Maxwell, 37, had been sidelined after injuring his wrist while bowling in the nets prior to Australia’s T20I series in New Zealand. His comeback is expected to bolster Australia’s middle order and provide strategic depth as the team prepares for the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup.

Joining Maxwell in the updated squad is rising pace talent Mahli Beardman, who earned a surprise call-up following impressive performances in domestic cricket and the U19 World Cup. Beardman will be available for the final three matches of the series, alongside Maxwell.

Veteran pacer Josh Hazlewood is slated to play the first two games, while bowling allrounder Sean Abbott will be available for three matches. The squad changes reflect Australia’s intent to test combinations and build momentum ahead of the global tournament.

India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, will face the revamped Australian side from October 29 to November 8, following the conclusion of the ongoing ODI series.
