A free football coaching camp has been launched for school students in South Andaman, aimed at promoting grassroots sports development and nurturing young talent in the region. The initiative is being organized by the Directorate of Education, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, in collaboration with the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs.

The camp commenced on September 18, 2025, and will run for a period of four weeks. It is being held at the Netaji Stadium in Port Blair and is open to students from government and private schools across South Andaman district. The program is designed to provide structured training in football fundamentals, physical fitness, team coordination, and sportsmanship.

Experienced coaches from the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and local football associations have been engaged to conduct the sessions. The training modules include age-appropriate drills, tactical exercises, and match simulations to enhance both individual and team performance.

The camp also aims to identify promising players for future participation in district and state-level tournaments. Selected students may be considered for advanced training under the Khelo India scheme and other national sports development programs.

Officials from the Directorate of Education emphasized the importance of integrating sports into the academic framework to foster holistic development among students. They noted that such initiatives not only promote physical well-being but also instill discipline, confidence, and leadership skills.

The launch event was attended by senior education and sports department officials, school representatives, and local community leaders. Students expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity to receive professional coaching and participate in competitive sports.

This initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to expanding access to quality sports training and creating pathways for young athletes in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
