In response to Anurag Kashyap’s latest accusation that he called him a “liar,” filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri has rekindled a long-standing professional feud that began when they worked together on the 2007 movie “Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal.” In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Agnihotri acknowledged Kashyap’s contributions to Indian film while reiterating his previous comments against his drinking habits. “Usko Chhodo.” Whoa, dono mein farak hai, subah kya bolta hai, and raat mein kya bolta hai. Aadmi rehte hain jiske andar 2-3 uski baat ko main kya kahun (Forget him). In the morning, he speaks quite differently than at night. What can I say about someone who is inhabited by two or three people? “Agnihotri said.” In his words, “Yes, I had talked about his drinking habits, and that’s the reality.” Anurag is a great guy, but I never said he was a bad guy. He has made an unparalleled contribution to Indian film. There is just one way that Anurag Kashyap can exist. When the history of Indian cinema is written, people will remember him.
According to reports, the argument between the two filmmakers started when Agnihotri asserted that Kashyap’s purported intoxication had hampered their collaboration. He went on, “My film suffered because of his alcoholism,” to support his claim. What’s the matter with that? There was a time in my life when I drank excessively, and it caused me to struggle at work. It occurs. Additionally, Agnihotri insisted that filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane had taken over Kashyap’s duties on the movie. Despite having different career paths, both directors are still actively involved in the industry.
Agnihotri’s upcoming movie is “The Bengal Files,” a politically charged drama that centers on political violence in West Bengal and stars Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi, and Darshan Kumar. The project is thematically similar to his contentious but financially successful “The Kashmir Files.” In the meantime, Kashyap is working on “Nishaanchi,” which recently released a teaser and stars Aaishvary Thackeray, the grandson of Balasaheb Thackeray.
