Former Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal has launched Parallel Web Systems Inc., a cloud-based platform designed to help AI systems perform large-scale web research efficiently. Founded in 2023 after his departure from Twitter following Elon Musk’s takeover, Agrawal’s new venture is based in Palo Alto and now has a 25-member team. The startup has already raised $30 million from top investors like Khosla Ventures, Index Ventures, and First Round Capital.
Parallel enables millions of research tasks daily for fast-growing AI firms and public enterprises. According to Agrawal, the platform helps coding agents debug issues and allows companies to automate complex workflows with human-level accuracy. The company recently introduced its Deep Research API, which it claims surpasses both humans and top AI models, including GPT-5, on tough benchmarks.
Parallel believes the current web was built for people, not AI. It aims to create a “Programmatic Web” optimized for machines—featuring declarative interfaces, transparent sourcing, and open markets. This approach supports AI-driven reasoning, computation, and knowledge-sharing, redefining how AIs interact with online information.
