Mumbai, September 6 — Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi is set to make his much-anticipated Telugu cinema debut in the upcoming action drama OG, directed by Sujeeth and produced by DVV Danayya of RRR fame. The film stars Telugu superstar Pawan Kalyan in the lead role, with Hashmi portraying the antagonist—a ruthless crime boss named Omi Bhau.
The teaser, recently released by DVV Entertainment, offers a glimpse into the high-voltage face-off between Hashmi’s Omi Bhau and Kalyan’s character, Ojas Gambheera, a gangster who returns to reclaim his empire after a decade-long absence. Hashmi’s rugged look, long hair, and intense screen presence have already sparked excitement among fans and critics alike.
Speaking about his role, Hashmi expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity: “I was thrilled when I was approached for this film as it marks my foray into Telugu cinema. What better way to do that than locking horns with superstar Pawan Kalyan on celluloid,” he said. He also praised the collaborative experience, adding, “Working with director Sujeeth and Pawan Kalyan was a fantastic experience. From my look and dialogue delivery to the entire characterisation, I loved every aspect of it”.
OG also features Priyanka Mohan, Arjun Das, Prakash Raj, and Sriya Reddy in key roles, with music composed by Thaman S. The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on September 25, 2025.
Hashmi’s entry into Telugu cinema marks a significant expansion of his career, which has largely been rooted in Hindi-language films. Following OG, he is also slated to appear in G2, a sequel to the 2018 spy thriller Goodachari, and the second installment of Awarapan, scheduled for release in April 2026.
With OG, Hashmi not only steps into a new linguistic and cinematic territory but also sets the stage for a compelling on-screen rivalry that promises to be one of the highlights of the year’s film calendar.
