External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen in Copenhagen on Wednesday, expressing appreciation for Denmark’s strong solidarity and support in combating terrorism.
Jaishankar, who is currently on a three-nation tour covering the Netherlands, Denmark, and Germany, highlighted the deepening bilateral ties between India and Denmark. The meeting focused on counter-terrorism cooperation, global security challenges, and strengthening the India-Denmark Green Strategic Partnership.
During his visit, Jaishankar also met with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, thanking her for Denmark’s unwavering support in India’s fight against terrorism. He conveyed personal greetings from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing global security concerns.
Jaishankar’s discussions with Rasmussen covered regional security, economic cooperation, and sustainable development initiatives. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening diplomatic ties and exploring new avenues for collaboration.
Apart from security concerns, Jaishankar and Danish officials discussed the India-Denmark Green Strategic Partnership, which aims to advance sustainable solutions in areas such as renewable energy, climate change, and technological innovation.
Jaishankar also engaged with Indian community representatives in Copenhagen, acknowledging their role in enhancing cultural connections between the two nations.
Jaishankar’s visit comes in the wake of recent terror attacks in India, including the Pahalgam incident, which claimed 26 lives. He emphasized the need for global cooperation in counter-terrorism efforts and praised Denmark’s consistent support in tackling extremist threats.
The discussions between Jaishankar and Rasmussen underscore the growing strategic partnership between India and Denmark, with both nations committed to addressing global challenges through diplomatic and security collaborations.
