The Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCA), South Andaman, and the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR), which is under the Directorate of Social Welfare, collaborated to conduct an awareness campaign at the Government Senior Secondary School in Bathubasti as part of an ongoing effort to combat drug and substance abuse among young people. The program, which was organized to educate young minds about the dangers of drug abuse, involved about 126 kids as well as the principal and teaching staff.
Following a cordial greeting from Ms. Shirley, PGT at the host school, Principal Mr. J. Dasan Pushparaj gave the opening remarks and emphasized the significance of such programs in fostering a drug-free, safer community. He encouraged students to actively participate in the educational sessions of the campaign, which covered a range of topics related to drug prevention. In order to build resilience against substance misuse, his discussion focused on strategies for bucking peer pressure and the need of having supportive relationships with family and friends.
In addition to the program, the NAPDDR Project Assistant urged students to develop productive study techniques and stay focused in order to avoid bad influences and develop a good outlook. Her mentoring gave pupils helpful tips on how to stay focused on their objectives and stay away from distractions. Through the campaign, NAPDDR, the Directorate of Social Welfare, and IRCA are demonstrating their ongoing commitment to educating the public about the risks of substance addiction and helping young people make healthy lifestyle choices.
