Diana Penty opened up about her 12-year live-in relationship with boyfriend Harsh Sagar and knowing him for 22 years and revealed why marriage is not important to her.

Actress Diana Penty has been in a long-term relationship with her boyfriend diamond merchant Harsh Sagar. Though the couple has been dating each other for over a decade and living together in Mumbai, they are in no hurry to get married. In a recent interview, Diana opened up about her decision and talked about the prejudice that models are promiscuous.

Speaking to Hotterfly, the actress shared her thoughts on marriage and revealed that she and her family are in no hurry to get married. “Yes, I’m not single. I won’t shout it from the rooftops, but me and my partner have been together for 12 years, and we’ve known each other for 22 years, which is half my life. So even though I’m not married, in my mind I am married. It’s the same thing because you respect the relationship the same way,” she said.

“Both our families are very nice, they respect what we have. Both sides say our happiness is the most important thing. So, there’s no pressure to get married. We live together. We have a dog. Everyone knows we’re together, there’s really no rush. It’s the same as being married, just that it’s not on paper. But, it doesn’t matter to me or him,” she said.

Diana, who began her modelling career in 2005 before making her acting debut in Cocktail (2012), also reacted to the common perception that models are promiscuous. He fumed, “I don’t know where these assumptions come from. At the end of the day we are all human beings. Human beings have certain principles, morals, ethics, how they were brought up, what they are comfortable with and what they are not. Everyone has their own.”

The actor further added, “Everyone is different, everyone has their own personality. It is not based on your profession, it is based on who you are. You respect everyone for who they are. Just because one person is a certain way, it doesn’t mean that everyone who is doing the same thing is the same way. It’s like saying all directors are the same. There is one director who has a certain personality and he does something unethical, so all directors do that. No! Everyone is different.”

When asked if she faced any inappropriate behaviour during her modelling career, she replied, “I have set my boundaries right from the beginning and made it very clear. That’s my nature, I usually don’t let people into my circle easily. Maybe it’s because I’m an only child.”
