On November 7, 2024, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, began the Dakshata program in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands with the goal of improving the quality of maternal and newborn care. Improving treatment throughout the intrapartum and early postpartum phases is the main goal of this program. “Dakshata – Training Programme to Improve Maternal and Newborn Care,” a three-day training session for nursing officers, was place in the Directorate of Industries Conference Hall in Sri Vijaya Puram from November 7 to 9, 2024. The goal of the training was to give medical personnel the know-how they need to provide better care in labor rooms.
Dr. Antony gave the participants their certificates and underlined how crucial it is to provide high-quality treatment in labor rooms in order to improve pregnancy outcomes. Resource individuals for the practical training sessions included Dr. M.K. Saha, Ms. Ruby Varghese, Nursing Officer at Dr. R.P. Hospital, Mayabunder, and Ms. Privina, Nursing Officer at G.B. Pant Hospital. Twelve nursing officers from different health facilities took part in the program, which seeks to give them the tools they need to significantly improve maternity and neonatal care in the area.
