The Indian government convened an all-party meeting on Thursday to brief political leaders on the precision military strikes carried out under Operation Sindoor. The meeting, chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, aimed to provide clarity on the targeted attacks on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir following the Pahalgam terror attack.

Under Operation Sindoor, the Indian armed forces destroyed nine terror camps linked to Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Pakistan and PoK. The strikes were conducted early Wednesday, two weeks after the Pahalgam attack, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians, including a Nepali national.

The government emphasized that the operation was calibrated and non-escalatory, targeting terror infrastructure rather than Pakistani military facilities. The move signals India’s firm stance against cross-border terrorism while avoiding direct military confrontation.

The meeting saw participation from key opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Sandip Bandyopadhyay (TMC), and TR Baalu (DMK). Unlike previous military operations, where opposition parties questioned the government’s actions, this time, Congress and other opposition leaders expressed full support for the armed forces.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge raised concerns over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s absence from the meeting, stating that his presence would have added value to the discussions. However, BJP leaders dismissed the criticism, asserting that the PM had already demonstrated India’s decisive retaliation against terrorism.

The strikes have led to heightened military activity in the Kashmir Valley, particularly around Srinagar, where increased air traffic and surveillance indicate operational readiness.
