Pensioners of the central government in India have come together to form a “Human Chain” to advocate for the prompt establishment of the 8th Central Pay Commission and to call for the retraction of the government’s policy that distinguishes pensioners according to their retirement dates.
This demonstration occurred at both the District and State Headquarters in New Delhi, while in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, the Government Pensioners Association organized the event in Port Blair. Numerous pensioners, including women, participated in the gathering, expressing their discontent with the government’s initiative to categorize pensioners based on their retirement dates.
The government’s objective appears to be the classification of pensioners, which would result in the denial of benefits associated with the 8th Central Pay Commission. Further protests are anticipated across the nation.
