Tekanpur, Madhya Pradesh, September 25, 2025 — In a landmark move to modernize border security operations, the Border Security Force (BSF) has inaugurated India’s first dedicated Drone Warfare School at its Central School of Weapons and Tactics (CSWT) campus in Tekanpur, Madhya Pradesh. The facility is designed to train personnel in advanced drone operations, counter-drone tactics, and unmanned aerial surveillance, marking a significant step in the BSF’s technological evolution.

The Drone Warfare School will serve as a national center of excellence, offering specialized training to BSF personnel as well as officers from other Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs). The curriculum includes modules on drone assembly, flight operations, payload management, surveillance techniques, and counter-drone strategies. The school is equipped with simulation labs, testing zones, and real-time monitoring systems to replicate battlefield conditions and border scenarios.

The initiative comes in response to the growing threat of cross-border drone incursions, particularly along the India-Pakistan border in Punjab and Jammu regions. Over the past two years, security forces have intercepted dozens of drones carrying weapons, narcotics, and surveillance equipment. The BSF aims to enhance its preparedness by developing a cadre of drone warfare specialists capable of neutralizing such threats swiftly and efficiently.

Speaking at the inauguration, senior BSF officials emphasized the strategic importance of integrating drone technology into border management. They noted that the school will also collaborate with domestic drone manufacturers and research institutions to stay abreast of emerging technologies and innovations in unmanned systems.

The establishment of the Drone Warfare School aligns with the Ministry of Home Affairs’ broader push to digitize and modernize India’s internal security apparatus. It also reflects the BSF’s commitment to proactive defense measures and technological self-reliance.
