Bobby Deol’s dance to the song “Jamal Kudu” in the film Animal went viral. At Screen Live, the actor shared the origin of his viral dance step.
Bobby Deol attended the third edition of Screen Live along with his elder brother and actor-politician Sunny Deol. The two brothers discussed several aspects of their lives, including childhood, their relationship with their father, as well as the ups and downs they have seen in the industry.
For Bobby, the 2023 film Animal became a turning point in his career. His dance to the song “Jamal Kudu” also went viral. Now, the actor shared the origin of his viral dance step.
At the Screen Live event, Bobby said, “I still remember when I was shooting for the sequence. Sandeep narrated the scene to me and said, ‘It’s your wedding and you have to dance.’ I said, ‘I can’t dance with the choreographer’ and I started dancing. He said, ‘Cut, I don’t want my character to look like Bobby Deol, I want it to look like Abrar.’ I thought to myself, ‘What do I do now?’ So I went to Saurabh Sachdeva, who played my brother in the film. I asked him, ‘How will you dance?’ and he started dancing and suddenly I don’t know what happened to me, all these memories started coming to my mind.’
He further added, “As a child, I used to go to Punjab in summer and winter vacations. At night, men would drink alcohol and suddenly some music would play and they would put glasses and bottles on their heads and dance to it. So I said to myself, let me try it and I did it many times. I didn’t know that my dancing style would become so popular. I just put the glass on my head and started dancing, the next thing I knew, it went viral. It’s really amazing.”

In 1995, Bobby made his debut as a lead actor in Rajkumar Santoshi’s film Barsaat. The film was a box office superhit. His second film Gupt: The Hidden Truth with Manisha Koirala and Kajol was also a huge success critically and commercially.
However, his film Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya with Aishwarya Rai flopped at the box office. After several years of select hits and big flops, the actor took a break due to lack of work. The actor then made a comeback with films like Race 3, Yamla Pagla Deewana: Phir Se and Housefull 4. He made his OTT debut with the Netflix film Class of ’83 and web series debut with Aashram on MX Player. Recently, he gained immense popularity for his role in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal, where he played the villain Abrar Haq.
After making his OTT and web series debut, Bobby Deol has now entered the South film industry with Suriya’s Kanguva. He also has Nandamuri Balakrishna’s untitled film and Hari Hara Veera Mallu in the pipeline.
