An awareness session emphasizing on the hazards of substance misuse and tobacco usage was held at the EOC Hall in Kamorta as part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA), a Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment effort. The event coincided with World No Tobacco Day. Dr. Shabnam Salim, Medical Officer (Homeopathy) of CHC Nancowry, led an instructive lecture on the negative effects of narcotics, tobacco, alcohol, and opioids on the human body.
She emphasized the significance of living a substance-free lifestyle and encouraged the kids and villagers to direct their energies into creative and useful activities. The seminar emphasized the importance of education and encouraged audience members who had dropped out of school to consider returning to school or participating in sports and vocational training rather than succumbing to addiction. The ceremony also marked the end of the vocational self-development training in traditional Nicobari handicrafts.
A program attended by local dignitaries highlighted the risks of teenage drug use and tobacco consumption, highlighting its long-term physical, mental, and social consequences. The event also featured a yoga demonstration, promoting wellness and holistic health. The message was to advocate for a drug-free and tobacco-free lifestyle, especially among youth, to build a healthier community.
