
The Department of Agriculture, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, held a one-day training session on farm machinery maintenance at the Seed Multiplication Farm in Bloomsdale, Chouldari, to increase technical awareness and improve the operational efficiency of local farmers. The training, which took place on May 9, 2025, concentrated on maintaining power tillers, brush cutters, and water pumps—all crucial pieces of machinery for contemporary farming methods. Ms. Tapasi Saha, Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Chouldari, opened the session by stressing the value of routine maintenance on agricultural equipment to guarantee increased output and reduce equipment downtime.
Ms. Pramila Kumari, a member of the Zilla Parishad, and Ms. Chaitali Roy, a member of the Panchayat Samiti, also spoke at the event and urged farmers to use and maintain their machinery according to best practices. The attendees were first welcomed by Mr. R. Santosh Kumar, Chargeman of the Directorate of Agriculture. Mr. Kumar and Mr. Depankar Choudhury, Assistant Chargeman, gave presentations during the technical session. They explained how farm machinery may increase agricultural productivity and gave practical advice on how to fix and maintain it. In an interactive session that wrapped off the event, farmers exchanged opinions and answered questions about maintaining their machinery.
