The Ganga River broke through the warning threshold, rising gradually at a rate of 4 centimeters per hour and flowing at 70.28 meters, putting Varanasi in danger. Authorities are on high alert since the water level is still rising and numerous low-lying communities are showing early signs of flooding. The danger mark is set at 71.262 meters. The Central Water Commission has confirmed that the Ganga has crossed the 70.262-meter mark and issued a warning. The Varuna River’s reverse flow is causing waterlogging and flood-like conditions in nearby communities.

The main reason for the river’s rising has been determined to be Madhya Pradesh’s three days of nonstop rain. As a result, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) is ready to conduct emergency operations if necessary and is on high alert. Manoj Sharma, the DIG of the 11th Battalion NDRF, and Divisional Commissioner S. Rajalingam together inspected the Ganga Ghats and other flood-affected districts. They went over flood-relief systems, rescue team readiness, and quick response and coordination tactics.

Fifteen localities have reported flooding damage thus far. Among the worst affected is Rampur Dhaba, where houses and crops have been submerged. Over 53 hectares of standing crops have been damaged, and 294 farmers have been affected overall. As the water level approaches the danger point, authorities are nevertheless keeping a careful eye on the situation. To minimize inconvenience and guarantee public safety, relief and rescue operations are being coordinated.
