Archana Puran Singh revealed that she had a comfortable childhood as her father was a well-known criminal lawyer of his time, who also defended Sanjay Gandhi.
Many people know about Archana Puran Singh’s film journey, but very few know about her childhood. Recently, Archana spoke about her early days in her vlog with her son Aryaman Sethi and revealed that she was born and brought up in Dehradun. She also revealed that she had a comfortable childhood as her father was a well-known criminal lawyer, who also defended Sanjay Gandhi.
Talking about her childhood, Archana said, “We lived in a bungalow and my dad had a Chevrolet Impala, he had all the luxurious cars of that time.” Aryaman joked, “Bungalows and luxury cars, you were very rich.”
He then urged Archana to tell everyone about her father, and she said, “My dad once defended Sanjay Gandhi in court. He was a criminal lawyer and despite being a criminal lawyer, he was very innocent and good-natured. His sense of humour has come to me and you too. He was a great person. When he passed away, the whole of Dehradun turned up at his funeral.”
He further added, “He was professional and knew his job. He defended the biggest criminals of his time, but he didn’t want his children to become lawyers because he believed it required selling one’s soul.” Archana also revealed that her father was often offered bribes. She said, “I once saw someone bringing a sack full of money for them. My father told him to pick up the sack and go away. He had honesty and he taught me that.”
During the same conversation, Archana also revealed how she came to Mumbai alone at the age of 20 to become an actress and had no connections in the film industry. She recalled her first advertisement and how she slowly made her way to Bollywood.
On the work front, Archana is a regular on The Great Indian Kapil Show. She also appeared in Ibrahim Ali Khan’s debut film “Nadaniyaan”. Apart from her acting career, she also runs her own YouTube channel which is quite popular among the audience where she shares her daily life stories through vlogs.
