On July 1, 2025, ANPCC, which is part of the Department of Science & Technology, conducted a thorough training session for SVOs from all across the Islands, marking a major advancement in veterinary practices’ environmental protections. The seminar, which took place at Sri Vijaya Puram, covered the correct way to dispose of BMW as well as the steps required to register and authorize veterinary facilities in accordance with the 2016 Bio-Medical Waste Management Rules. Officials from the ANPCC outlined the procedure for acquiring a CTO, a crucial regulatory requirement for veterinary facilities, and emphasized the significance of prompt application submission to the Committee’s headquarters in Dollygunj during the session. Fee schedules, necessary documentation, and application dates were all discussed in the class.
Attendees were briefed by Mr. Raj Babu, an ANPCC official, on important environmental protections required by the 2016 BMW Rules. He emphasized how non-compliance could have an adverse effect on the environment and how veterinary facilities share responsibility for maintaining public health standards. The ANPCC reaffirmed its dedication to veterinary services support by ongoing follow-up inspections, professional advice, and technological help. This program is seen as a critical step in guaranteeing sustainable medical waste management and bringing the Islands’ veterinary services into compliance with national environmental standards.
