Bengaluru, August 18 — In a major hiring push ahead of India’s festive season, Amazon India has announced the creation of over 1.5 lakh seasonal job opportunities across its fulfilment centres, sortation hubs, and last-mile delivery stations. The move is part of the e-commerce giant’s strategy to scale operations and ensure timely deliveries during peak demand periods such as Diwali and other regional festivals.
The seasonal roles span more than 400 cities, including tier-2 and tier-3 locations like Raipur, Jalandhar, Jodhpur, Ranchi, and Jalgaon. These positions include both direct and indirect employment, with responsibilities ranging from picking and packing to shipping and doorstep delivery.
“This festive season, we remain focused on providing fast and reliable deliveries to customers in every serviceable pin code across India,” said Abhinav Singh, Vice President – Operations, India & Australia, Amazon. “To achieve this, we’ve expanded our fulfilment and logistics network with over 1.5 lakh additional people. Many of them continue beyond the festive period, with a significant number returning to work with us year after year.”
Amazon emphasized its commitment to safety and inclusivity, noting that thousands of women and over 2,000 persons with disabilities have been employed across its network. The company’s infrastructure now supports more than 1.6 million sellers, with fulfilment centres spread across 15 states offering over 43 million cubic feet of storage, sortation centres in 19 states, and nearly 2,000 Amazon-operated and partner delivery stations.
Industry experts project that festive hiring across e-commerce, retail, and logistics will exceed 2 lakh jobs this year, marking a 15–20% increase in seasonal employment compared to 2024. Recruitment firms such as NLB Services and Adecco India attribute the surge to rising consumer demand and the expansion of digital commerce into smaller cities.
Amazon’s announcement comes as part of its broader commitment to supporting India’s workforce and enabling small businesses. The company also highlighted its ongoing initiatives like Project Ashray, which provides dedicated resting points for delivery associates in major metros.
With the festive season approaching, Amazon’s ramped-up workforce is expected to play a critical role in meeting customer expectations and sustaining operational efficiency across its vast logistics network.
