The Andaman Association of Tour Operators (AATO), in collaboration with India Tourism under the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, successfully celebrated the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) at Swaraj Dweep, showcasing the islands’ growing appeal as a wellness destination.
Originally scheduled to take place on the scenic Radhanagar Beach, the event was relocated to the Taj Exotica Resort & Spa due to persistent rainfall. Despite the change in venue, the celebration drew enthusiastic participation from over 100 tourism stakeholders, including local tour operators, hoteliers, lifeguards, and officials from the tourism department.
A special highlight was the involvement of 31 travel agents from across India and abroad, currently on a familiarization tour of the islands. Their presence underscored the rising interest in the Andamans as a hub for sustainable and wellness tourism.
Led by AATO President Mr. M. Vinod, members of the association turned out in large numbers to support the initiative. Mr. Vel Murugan, Assistant Director of India Tourism, expressed gratitude to AATO, the Taj Exotica team, and all local partners for their swift coordination and commitment to making the event a success despite weather challenges.
