A 34-year-old man was arrested in a well-coordinated anti-narcotics operation near the Shivram Complex in Sri Vijaya Puram following the seizure of 1.560 kilograms of illegal ganja.
The operation was launched based on actionable intelligence received by Inspector Vikas Singh, Station House Officer of the Anti-Narcotics Police Station. The tip-off indicated that an individual named Hemant would be in possession of a suspicious parcel containing narcotics. The intel was formally relayed to Deputy Superintendent of Police (Narcotics), Mr. Balram (DANIPS), who promptly authorized the formation of a raiding team.
Acting on the directive, Inspector Singh—accompanied by SI Manoj Lal, ASI Sanjay Yadow, HC Laxman Rao, and constables T. Bhavani Shanker, Ratan Das, and M. Raja Rao—proceeded to the target location equipped with a drug detection kit and electronic weighing scale.
At the scene, the team identified a suspect near the Andaman Sea Airways office holding a white plastic parcel. Upon questioning, the man identified himself as Kavoor Hemant Rao, a resident of Anarkali near the playground in Sri Vijaya Puram, matching the details from the intelligence input. The parcel was found to contain three rolls of fishing net concealing two brown tape-wrapped packets. A preliminary test confirmed the contents to be ganja. The total weight of the seized substance was measured at 1.560 kilograms in the presence of witnesses.
